Chocolate Bacon Cake

It has long been a gluttonous goal of mine to consume chocolate covered bacon. Well, my steps toward this indulgence may have just gotten closer thanks to a friend of mine, Kristy (who likely prefers NOT to be associate with "bacon cake!"), pointed me toward this delectable treat served at the The Riviera Supper Club here in San Diego.

Spontaneous

At 4 PM PST Thursday I decided I was going to travel to NYC... on FRIDAY! The result: An amazing weekend "growing up in Spanish Harlem" with my good friend Dana and a lot of other great friends, including Fiesty Fawn herself, from my ESU days.

I arrived Friday afternoon, navigated my way through the air train to subway, and the fun began immediately with champagne, great conversation and additional friend arrivals. By Saturday evening there were 7 of us who had travelled into the Big Apple to celebrate a 26th birthday weekend for the books. Fun was had by all. It is awesome to have such amazing friends who never seem to miss a beat. Although there were a few notable absent members of our group their spirit was with us in stories of memories past. I even had some time to meet family for lunch before I took off.

Alas, Sunday came too quickly and I had to catch a train or two back to JFK arriving home in San Diego by 9 PM. Ahh, nothing like a weekend getaway clear across the country ;)
